Aequian

Introduction

The Aequi were in the Alban Hills around Rome as early as the 5th century BCE. They were subdued by the Romans at the end of the 2nd Samnite war (304 BCE) and were quickly latinized. This Osco-Umbrian language is very close to Latin and might even be considered a dialect of Latin.
